After nearly 2 years of trying to get sub 5 minutes in a 1500m race, I went and done it - twice!
The first time was my local Districts where I got 4:59, but unfortunately, it didn't count towards the Power of 10. :(
It was then a week later (last weekend) where I had the opportunity to do it again at an official race and my time would be put on the Power of 10. There was me thinking that there would be loads of people in my race to push me, but no, there was 3 of us! How can you possibly run a good race when there is only 3 of you!? But regardless, I managed to run 5:00:4, which really annoyed me as I was only a .4th of a second from going sub-5 mins!
And Today was my 3rd try at it. I was hoping it was going to be 3rd time lucky and that I might just be able scrape below 5 mins. Instead, I managed to run 4:54:05! I couldn't believe my ears when my mum shouted across the track that I got that time! All I could see was her jumping up and down with excitement! Obviously, having just ran a sub-5 min race, I had no energy to join her in the jumping up and down, but trust me, I was extremely happy!!:D
Now it means that my training target times are going to get a hell of a lot faster! ..... but watch this space as there's more to come! :')
