Training-wise this week has not gone well After pulling my hamstrings (yes I did both legs last weekend) I have had to back off the run training which has been hard as Perry has just intensified the run sessions, and get on the cross trainer instead. A good physio last night helped though and they are finally not hurting as much.
But the rest of the week has been AMAZING......
I had 2 interviews this week and susequently started working as a Lifeguard at Runnymede - with a possibility of another Lifeguard job at my Virgin gym where I train 6 days a week at the moment anyway!
The second interview this week was with a possible new Sponsor. The interview went really well and they were extremely interested in me ...... so watch this space!
But by far the best was saved til last - on Friday I received confirmation from British Triathlon that I have qualified for the GB Team for the European Aquathlon Champs in Germany in June!
I am thrilled to qualify and represent my Country only 5 months into my return to the Triathlon scene and after redirecting my training.
The swim is open water in the Rhine and is a 1000m (gulp) with a 5k run after. I prefer open water swimming but I have never raced with this distance of swim before so this will be a huge challenge for me.
I Dont know yet whether the swim will need a wetsuit (depends on the temperature of the water on the day) but I'd better get some open water training in as soon as the lake opens. (And better try my wetsuit on to see if it still fits!)
The area looks beautiful and we have booked a hotel overlooking the rhine and within walking distance of the event.
I've ordered my new GB kit too - cant wait to see how it looks with my name above the GBR (Mum is gonna be blubbering again when she sees me in it!) I'll post a pic as soon as it arrives.
